The Daydreamer- Ian Mcewan

Well,  i just finished the first children book of Ian Mcewan. Generally, it is great ( My cousin's taste never disappoint me :P ). This book is about a 10 year old boy - Peter. He is not like normal boys. He is kind of special child who likes daydream everytime. The thing i like about this book is the author did research about the children's psychology. He knows what they think as if he's in their mind. I bet when writing this book he's like coming back to his childhood and once again being a 10 year old daydreamer.

This book has only 7 chapters. Each chapter describes Peter's imagination stories. Ian Mcewan is successful in striking into what children like and what they dislike. For instance, Peter does not like Mrs Goodgame a.k.a his neighbo, so he can daydream she is a burglar. Yes when kids dislike a particular person, they definitely imagine he/she into a monster or something terrible. Peter makes me think of my nephew. When his dad shouts at him and he murmurs to me " Dad is like a wolf".
This book is worth reading. Parents should wrap The daydreamer as a gift for their child or they can try to read it in order to way back the time and start to learn daydream again.
